Commissions

Considered Objects accepts a limited number of commissions each year for garments, accessories, textile-based works, and other ongoing projects.

Commissions may begin from existing pieces, past works, or entirely new ideas developed collaboratively through conversation, material exploration, and handwork in the studio.

Most works are produced using repurposed and inherited textiles, including vintage silk kimono fragments, deadstock fabrics, antique materials, and accumulated studio remnants. Because of the nature of these materials, each piece develops slowly and remains one of a kind or is produced in very small quantities.

To begin a conversation, please email info@considered-objects.com with a brief description of what you are interested in developing.

Process

Projects begin with an initial consultation held via email, phone, virtual meeting, or, when possible, in person. This stage allows space to discuss references, materials, functionality, scale, timelines, and the overall direction of the work.

Depending on the project, commissions may involve:

-custom garments

-reconstructed or repaired textiles

-flower-based accessories

-textile objects

-suspended or interior works

-ongoing collaborative development

Following the initial conversation, a proposed scope, estimated timeline, and pricing structure will be shared.

Production & Timelines

Each commission is developed individually in the studio, and timelines vary depending on material availability, scale, and the amount of handwork involved.

Garment commissions typically require fittings or detailed measurements. For clients outside New York, remote fittings and virtual consultations can be arranged when needed.

A 50% deposit is required before work begins, with the remaining balance due upon completion.
