Design consultation
The process begins with a private consultation, held by email, phone, or in person. This is where we discuss ideas, review references, consider materials, and outline budgets or needs. You may explore the Considered Objects material archive and experiment with garment shapes and combinations.
After our initial conversation, we’ll determine the scope of your project and provide a quote and estimated timeline. Virtual appointments are encouraged to refine ideas and review options. Additional in-studio meetings can be scheduled as needed.
Next steps
Once you decide to move forward, a 50% deposit is required to begin. The remaining balance is due upon delivery. After the deposit is placed, we’ll create a detailed timeline and design proposal. Measurements are taken in our New York studio, with remote guidance available for clients outside the city.
Custom garment timelines typically range from 3–7 months, depending on garment style, textile selection, and the extent of handwork. Exact timeframes are confirmed once the project is defined.
Fittings
Each Custom garment includes two fitting sessions in the studio. Adjustments are made during the first fitting. Additional fittings or alterations can be arranged for an additional fee.
For clients outside New York or abroad, custom garments can be shipped, and virtual fittings can be supported as needed.
