Frequently asked questions
How are your products made?
Each piece is handmade using antique or vintage kimono textiles sourced by Sara from Japan. We take a zero-waste approach, repurposing every scrap of fabric to design and make textiles, so no two items are ever the same.
What makes your brand sustainable?
We focus on using repurposed, vintage/antique kimono and deadstock textiles and embrace a zero-waste philosophy. By preserving traditional Japanese kimono fabrics and reducing waste, we’re committed to a slower, more thoughtful approach to fashion.
How do I care for my handmade garments and accessories?
Due to the delicate nature of vintage silk kimono, we recommend a professional eco-friendly cleaner that avoids the use of harsh chemicals. This will help preserve the integrity of the vintage silk. Our accessories, such as flower brooches, or necklaces, we recommend spot cleaning when necessary or using a professional eco-friendly cleaner for more thorough care. Avoid exposing accessories to direct prolonged sunlight, moisture, or perfumes, as these can affect the textile and any embellishments.
How do I care for T-shirts, tanks and hoodies?
For our casual wear items, like T-shirts, tank tops, and hoodies, we recommend washing them inside out in cold water on a gentle cycle. Avoid bleach or harsh detergents, and hang them to dry to maintain the quality and longevity of the fabric and embellishments.
Do you offer custom orders?
Yes! We love working on custom pieces. Please reach out to us through our contact page to discuss the specifics of your project and we'll do our best to accommodate.
Are all your items made-to-order?
Not all of our items are made to order. We create a range of one-of-a-kind pieces from repurposed vintage silk kimonos and deadstock textiles, which are available for immediate purchase in limited quantities. However, we do offer custom orders for clients who wish to collaborate on a specific design. Additionally, some items like our T-shirts, hoodie's and tank tops with pressed flower embellishments, may be available for pre-order at select times during the year.
What is the significance of the pressed flowers used in your designs?
Pressed flowers are a signature and key element of our designs, symbolizing preservation, beauty, and memories. We creatively repurpose scraps from our silk kimonos and incorporate pressed flower into our designs. They represent a meaningful connection to family history and culture, as flowers hold sentimental value in both personal and Japanese traditions.
When do you release collections or drops?
We don't follow a traditional seasonal schedule for releases. Instead, our collections and drops are released periodically throughout the year, often aligned with special projects, pop-up events or collaborations. To stay updated, we recommend subscribing to our newsletter for announcements on upcoming launches.
Where can I find your products in person?
We occasionally participate in pop-up events which is shared on our Instagram. Additionally, you can visit our studio in NYC by appointment to view our collections in person. Contact us to schedule an appointment.
