N° 113 crushed bloom crossbody phone pouch - ame pink
A singular crossbody pouch made from deadstock cotton canvas, hand-stitched throughout with antique Nishijin silk thread and finished with a crushed bloom hand-sculpted from repurposed Japanese silk kimono.
Nishijin is the Kyoto district that has woven silk for kimono and obi for over a thousand years. The antique thread used here was sourced in Japan, and time has softened it into a gentle luster that new thread can’t match.
I work without industrial factory molds or patterns, cutting, shaping, and hand-stitching every petal one by one. The bloom is sewn directly onto the canvas. Built for daily use, the pouch holds your phone, with a card pocket at the back for your credit cards and ID, and you can wear it cross-body with a strap length that suits you.
Deadstock canvas and archival silk exist in small, unrepeatable quantities. Once a specific fabric is used, it can’t be replaced. Subtle shifts in grain, aged patina, and tone ensure that every pouch remains singular.
Details & Craft
-
Process: The crushed bloom is cut, hand-sculpted, and hand-stitched petal by petal in my New York studio. Hand-stitching details are worked in antique Nishijin silk thread.
-
Construction: French seams throughout the interior for a clean, durable finish with no raw edges inside.
- Back Pocket: A card holder on the back, finished with a hand-stitched label.
- Strap: Choose a short strap to wear high on the body, or a long strap to wear low on the hip.
- Finish: Raw edge detailing on the silk bloom, celebrating the natural fraying and softening of aging silk.

Material Care
Aged wear and subtle shifts in texture are part of the silk's history, not a defect. Slight fraying over time is a natural characteristic of raw-edge vintage textiles. Spot clean only when necessary, and gently reshape the petals by hand as needed.
