Each item is made from rare vintage and antique silk kimono textiles, often only enough for one or two garments. Once the textile is gone, that exact shade, weave, or pattern can’t be sourced again.
The hand-stitched pinstripe kimono gown is made from 100% silk kurotomesode kimono textile scraps(1960s-1980s), pinstripe wool deadstock, and 100% silk haori 羽織 (a traditional Japanese jacket worn over a kimono originally designed for samurai as a practical outer layer for warmth and protection) textiles from Japan. The original kimono seams are preserved, honoring the garment's history and craftsmanship. Zero-waste design through patchwork techniques.
Lined in Italian black cupro bemberg. Side pockets, back keyhole with a single vintage shell button closure. Interior hand-stitched pressed silk flower applique repurposed from vintage/antique silk kimono scraps. One of a kind.
