N° 51 crushed bloom brooch - momiji red - XS
A singular botanical study hand-sculpted from repurposed Japanese silk kimonos and reclaimed archival textiles. Sourced from Japan and hand-repaired, each piece uses antique and vintage Japanese silk fragments.
Hand-crushed silk flowers with creased, crumpled petals. Stitched with pure silk thread, the piece reveals subtle variations in tone, natural slubs, and raw-edge finishes.
I work without industrial factory molds or patterns, cutting, shaping, and hand-stitching every petal one by one. This slow, labor-intensive work carries forward a family tradition of giving damaged historical textiles new life.
These preserved textiles exist in small, unrepeatable lengths. Some fabrics yield a small, limited run, while others produce only a single flower. Once a specific fabric is used, it can never be replaced. Subtle shifts in grain, aged patina, and tone ensure that every piece remains singular.

Material Care
Aged wear and subtle shifts in texture are part of the silk's history, not a defect. Slight fraying over time is a natural characteristic of raw-edge vintage textiles. Spot clean only when necessary, and gently reshape the petals by hand as needed.
