Deadstock 100% cotton canvas, finished with French seams throughout and hand-applied with crushed bloom flowers cut, petal by petal, from vintage and antique 100% silk kimono. These textiles no longer exist anywhere else. Each flower draws from a limited archive of silk we source, repair, and repurpose ourselves, so while a design may be made again, the exact piece of fabric is never repeated. Even two totes of the same style will carry their own subtle differences in tone, placement, and stitching, the same way no two blossoms in nature are identical.
This is slow work, rooted in a family tradition of giving new life to kimono too worn or damaged to wear, carried forward through our own hands in a New York City studio.
Designed with a soft structure and long shoulder straps for everyday use, with an interior pocket for the essentials.
The details
Each flower is individually cut from antique and vintage silk kimono scraps and reclaimed silk, then hand-applied onto grosgrain ribbon before being sewn onto the canvas. The flowers shown are representative; due to the handmade process and use of repurposed textiles, color, shape, and placement may vary slightly, while reflecting the same overall design sensibility.

Caring for your tote
Age and wear are simply part of this textile's history, not a flaw. Slight variation, natural fraying, and softening over time are to be expected and are part of what gives vintage silk its character. Spot clean only when necessary.
